My boat loses control, I fall into the ice-cold water. I am stranded in the middle of a deep sea. In a distance, I see light.
I sprint up the spiral staircase into the gallery dock of the lighthouse, shocked to notice an abundance of powerful white waves darting towards my direction, I scream at the top of my lungs.
The sky becomes fierce with electric anger, dark clouds gathering together as a sudden sense of fear runs through my nerves like the chill of an icy wind. The waves approach the building there's only one option left to do ; jump!

Olympic Activities :)
Should NZ consider hosting the Olympics? I think yes. Here are the pros and some cons considering why we should have the Olympics here in NZ.
First of all if we do have the Olympics held in NZ, it will be easier for the people in New Zealand to travel. Instead of travelling overseas for more than about 6 hours; they probably need to travel approximately 2 hours in a plane. The NZ olympians won't have to worry about fees or transport although other countries do it would still be easier for the countries nearby.
Second of all NZ will get more attention. Some really good sports players would have a better chance to participate in the games also, New Zealand would gain heaps more popularity! Imagine all the live cameras videoing the Olympics for people to watch on TV-and that too WORLDWIDE! I bet in the Olympics after that the commentators would talk about how awesome we were.
Finally, New Zealand is a clean and green environment, meaning that anyone would love to have the olympics held here! Even though we might not have many big views like Rio, we do have a nice environment. We also have an abundance of space to place an entire Olympic stadium.
So now you know all the positive statements about why NZ should host the Olympics. Maybe in the one after 2020. In conclusion I strongly believe New Zealand should have a go at hosting the olympics, not only for getting more attention, a good environment or easy travel but also for the pavlova and fish and chips...mmmmmmm

Marae Trip 💜
I slowly step out of the bus, in front of me I see a small gate; the entrance to the marae. I wait impatiently to go inside, I had only been to a marae once before and I wondered if it was going to be the same. Then we got called in from the karanga, the karanga is when the kuia ( elderly women) call to exchange information about the purpose of the visit and to call the manuhiri ( visitors) in.
first up was the powhiri, where both hosts and visitors gave kaikorero (speeches), sung waiatas (songs) and did the hongi ( pressing foreheads together as a way of greeting.) Most of the speeches I didn't really understand because there was an abundance of maori words so I just sat quietly and patiently listened.
After the powhiri the year 8 syndicate were divided into 3 groups and all were shown around the marae. In the wharekai (dining hall) we learnt the stories behind the carvings on the wall. Behind the wharekai was a spring where we got to drink sacred water and learnt the history behind it . We were told about the culture, food, carvings and the kuia (women) who made the marae come to life!
Finally after all that learning we got served kai (food)! It was delicious. We got fish and chips and a healthy salad. To end the ka pai (great) day we finished off with speeches and then headed back to school...yay! :(

It was a stunning sunny day until something very unexpected happened...
At approximately 1.00pm I was riding my new bike that I got gifted for my 11th birthday, when suddenly I lost control down a very steep hill and crashed into a colossal tree!
When I got home my leg was feeling quite sore. There was a purple bruise - in fact it was so purple it didn't even look like a bruise. I showed my mum and she quickly took me to the doctors..but the spot just grew and grew...

Chinese dining day :)
I sauntered into the the restaurant, taking in the sweet scent of seafood. I quickly grabbed a seat before anyone could get there before me. I waited impatiently for everyone to take a seat and finally the food started to get served...I hated chinese food . I take out my chopsticks, even though I had no idea how to hold them and I gradually scoop in some noodles. Mr Mckay takes pictures of me failing how to hold the chopsticks so I decide to use my fork instead.
One by one more food was getting served like : The succulent wontons, yumchar, squid, noodles, prawn dumplings and much more. The food looked appetizing but some of the food didn't taste very nice.
After the main meals had been served, a type of mango jelly was given to everybody, I had the urge to eat it but after I took a spoonful it tasted piquant and tangy.
I was suprised that most people were still eating and there was still an abundance of food left on the tables...but that's when I knew I had a lot to burn off.

100 WC
Sauntering lazily into my bedroom laying down delicately on the springy mattress.
Nonchalantly drifting to sleep, suddenly I hear a loud thud coming from the front door. I'm home alone not knowing what to do, soon little shards of glass crack from the windows near the entrance, hitting the ground. Shivering uncontrollably as I see the battered door open calmly. I back away at the sight of a shadowy figure, I could picture his brown fur, soggy, wet with mud. His teeth, yellow with decay, his eyes, red and devilish. I could see his shadow coming towards me... I run.

100 Word Challenge.
Werewolves howling, hunting for humans, tearing out their clothes as blood stains are everywhere.
Just the thought of that makes me shiver . I wake up to go to the bathroom, walking along the hallway I see a glow coming from the candles down the sides. Slowly opening the dilapidated door, a candle drops, as the flame flickered and then went out, I scream.
Quickly turning back to my bedroom, ghost images appear in front of me. I scream for as long as possible, alerting my parents. Suddenly I feel the force of a door shoving my body, I'm in darkness.

Reflections 2015
My Memories of Year 7
This year I have improved in hockey, tennis and cricket. In hockey I have learnt more stick skills and footwork. In tennis I have learnt how to serve and in cricket I have learnt how to bowl properly. I have enjoyed playing kabaddi with my friends and getting into the finals - the only thing that I didn’t enjoy was breaking my finger. I have enjoyed camp and overcame my fear of heights after I went abseiling. I also remember when our class was at the rock hop and I kept on banging into Ella. I have improved in maths - learning easier strategies- easier than algorithms, I have improved in reading- understanding the text more, I have improved in spelling- especially apostrophes and plurals. I have enjoyed going on all my hockey and cricket fixtures this year and I was glad to be in the 2nds for hockey. I enjoyed the time when I got to stay a night at a stranger’s house for a fixture the next day in Napier. I enjoyed drama when we did the play Bugsy Malone and I had to carry a huge lollipop on the stage and sing- I didn’t do a very good job on that. I also enjoyed Science, Art\Pottery and Music. I remember in Science when we got to eat sausages, chocolate and omelettes, I enjoyed pottery when we got to make cups on the wheel and I failed at it so Mrs Wathen had to make me one. I enjoyed music when we played naughts and crosses and there was one more cross till we won and I put it in the wrong place . So I have really enjoyed my Year 7 at Southwell 2015 and I hope next year will be as fun as this year!

Appreciation
Appreciation
I think appreciation is to be grateful for what you have and what you get. Appreciation includes using your manners when someone has done something good for you no matter where you are, what you’re doing or what situation you’re in.
Example of use
I say thank you every single day to my parents, I say thank you to them for making me dinner, taking me to places in a car, buying me expensive clothes and much much more. Even for the smallest things it is respectful to say thank you.
Refugee Story 'Stranded'
Stranded
In the middle of nowhere I am lost, stranded and away from home. Stuck in a place with soggy, slimy mud and a shelter which I can’t call home. I go exploring to find water and food but I can’t even seem to find a loaf of bread. As I walk down the icy, cold rocks, I see something glaring at me, something that I’ve never seen before. It looks scary and wouldn’t turn away, I try to study it but I still can’t figure out what it is. A few minutes later I hear a strange noise. It was coming from the thing, the thing that looked like it had one eye. Suddenly the light flashes so bright I can’t even see it anymore. I carefully turn away; the light flickers one more time.
I run away from the shiny one-eyed flashy thing and wish I could go home. I want to escape, I want to run and jump over the fence but I have a feeling the security will catch me. I feel sick of this filthy place and soon I make up my decision. I am going to escape, either now or never, I think to myself.
Sprinting as fast as I can, petrified, I sneak through the guards and, steal a soap from the shop nearby, take a loaf of bread ( that I find sitting beside the fence ) and climb over the fence. I make it over and I feel as happy as ever. All I need to do now is find someone to sail me across the sea. I can feel something hard, pressing against the side of my head and tears streak down my cheeks. My journey has gone to a waste.

Goals
Goals
Writing goals :
☮Crafting and re-crafting my work during the editing phrase.
☮My next steps, when proofreading, are to ensure that she used the same tense throughout and that she has used more complex punctuation, such as direct speech and commas correctly.
Reading goals :
☮I need to work hard on evaluating the texts and applying the skill of self-monitoring in order to meet the national standard by the need of the year.
☮Focusing on where meaning breaks down and re-reading those parts of texts again
☮I am working on identifying the author’s purpose and the ways in which writers use language and ideas to suit their purposes.
☮I need to focus on the keywords in the questions in order to ascertain what is being asked.
Habit of mind goal :
☮Taking responsible risks : Speaking in front of the class by myself or in front of the year 7’s because I can’t be nervous about my speech.
☮Taking responsible risks : Running in cross country without stopping at all because last year I slipped and had to stop for about 5 seconds.
