Reflections 2015

My Memories of Year 7

This year I have improved in hockey, tennis and cricket. In hockey I have learnt more stick skills and footwork. In tennis I have learnt how to serve and in cricket I have learnt how to bowl properly. I have enjoyed playing kabaddi with my friends and getting into the finals - the only thing that I didn’t enjoy was breaking my finger. I have enjoyed camp and overcame my fear of heights after I went abseiling. I also remember when our class was at the rock hop and I kept on banging into Ella. I have improved in maths - learning easier strategies- easier than algorithms, I have improved in reading- understanding the text more, I have improved in spelling- especially apostrophes and plurals. I have enjoyed going on all my hockey and cricket fixtures this year and I was glad to be in the 2nds for hockey. I enjoyed the time when I got to stay a night at a stranger’s house for a fixture the next day in Napier. I enjoyed drama when we did the play Bugsy Malone and I had to carry a huge lollipop on the stage and sing- I didn’t do a very good job on that. I also enjoyed Science, Art\Pottery and Music. I remember in Science when we got to eat sausages, chocolate and omelettes, I enjoyed pottery when we got to make cups on the wheel and I failed at it so Mrs Wathen had to make me one. I enjoyed music when we played naughts and crosses and there was one more cross till we won and I put it in the wrong place . So I have really enjoyed my Year 7 at Southwell 2015 and I hope next year will be as fun as this year!

Appreciation

Appreciation
I think appreciation is to be grateful for what you have and what you get. Appreciation includes using your manners when someone has done something good for you no matter where you are, what you’re doing or what situation you’re in.

Example of use
I say thank you every single day to my parents, I say thank you to them for making me dinner, taking me to places in a car, buying me expensive clothes and much much more. Even for the smallest things it is respectful to say thank you.

Refugee Story 'Stranded'

Stranded
In the middle of nowhere I am lost, stranded and away from home. Stuck in a place with soggy, slimy mud and a shelter which I can’t call home. I go exploring to find water and food but I can’t even seem to find a loaf of bread. As I walk down the icy, cold rocks, I see something glaring at me, something that I’ve never seen before. It looks scary and wouldn’t turn away, I try to study it but I still can’t figure out what it is. A few minutes later I hear a strange noise. It was coming from the thing, the thing that looked like it had one eye. Suddenly the light flashes so bright I can’t even see it anymore. I carefully turn away; the light flickers one more time.

I run away from the shiny one-eyed flashy thing and wish I could go home. I want to escape, I want to run and jump over the fence but I have a feeling the security will catch me. I feel sick of this filthy place and soon I make up my decision. I am going to escape, either now or never, I think to myself.

Sprinting as fast as I can, petrified, I sneak through the guards and, steal a soap from the shop nearby, take a loaf of bread ( that I find sitting beside the fence ) and climb over the fence. I make it over and I feel as happy as ever. All I need to do now is find someone to sail me across the sea. I can feel something hard, pressing against the side of my head and tears streak down my cheeks. My journey has gone to a waste.
